Our BPS Registered Psychologist
Our psychologist is highly experienced, British Psychological Society registered and has received the very best education and training, which has been gained within the UK.
Helen is a qualified and fully insured psychologist, chartered with the British Psychological Society and registered with the UK Health and Care Professions Council.
With an interest in human performance and motivation, Helen started out as a sport and exercise psychologist and continues a connection to sport in areas such as image and performance enhancing drugs, athlete mental health, and child athlete welfare. However, her applied work and interests have extended beyond this domain, particularly into areas such health behaviour change – focusing on weight management, smoking cessation, problem drinking, addictions and substance use and abuse.
Helen has worked in private, public, and third sector services, and currently works part-time in a drug and alcohol service in London as well as running a private practice. She has been a visiting lecturer at Chichester and Greenwich Universities, and regularly presents at academic conferences.
In her applied work, Helen utilises a combination of psychological therapy tools – most commonly motivational interviewing (which can help people who are ambivalent become more committed to and motivated about making a change), and Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), which was the pioneering form of cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT).
